However, we have not given up the fight. When we free up some time, we hope to be back, including improving transformcalifornia.com and allowing purchases. By the way, since I work in an affiliated field, one of the best ways to make sure that the government receives as little of your family's money as possible is through proper estate planning. If you live in Palm Desert, you might want to visit this Palm Desert Estate Planning law firm and this law firm, all are great attorneys.

Legislature's War on California Citizens and Common Sense

First, a preliminary update. We have finished most of the time investment for a current, important project for our family. As a result, I will now have more time to get the website up (and working) and work on getting the message out at transformcalifornia.com.

In the meantime, please consider supporting reformcal.com

Also, did you know that our insane California Legislature is considering banning plastic bags? According to the environmental nutjobs, these bags will stay in landfills for hundreds of years. (How do they really know, by the way?) Well, if that is true, let's ban iPADs, iPODs, and iPhones. Think of all the plastic Apple is producing! While we are at it, let's just make everything in stone.

http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/08/09/1767907/california-bill-would-ban-plastic.html

What a nightmare! The legislature has vendetta against the working and middle class. Not all of us can drive hybrids, eat gourmet meals, and go to fancy wine bars in San Francisco everyday.

Some of us just need to run our businesses, feed our families, and not have another tax ( to pay for the bags) or hassle (to bring our own bags!). These people considering this bill are true snobs, probably don't have children, and removed from the cares of the average citizen in California.

If they pass this bill, God help us. What is next?

P.S. Ever notice how these insane ideas are set to go into effect in the future, so that the current legislators don't have to be there when the mess occurs?

Another Update . . . And Comments about Meg

Hey, I have been busy, with a move, full-time job, and working on some other very pressing projects. Now, though, I'll be able to go through the paperwork to get some merchandise available at transformcalifornia.com. (Unfortunately, my sister has not been able to help out as much, but that is life.)

A few comments before I go: I saw an updated budget number for CA and it was a deficit of $41 billion dollars . . . great! How is that even possible?

Also, concerning Meg Whitman, she seems like a likeable and reasonable, fiscally conservative candidate. However, if she was truly interested in meaningful change in CA, she would also advocate a part-time legislature. Even if she was the best governor ever (and we had the same hope for Arnold), things would likely reset to chaos once she was out of office. This is the only thing we can do for substantive and lasting reform.

Also, in case you needed another reminder, please send some money to reformcal.com!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://californiaparttimelegislature.blogspot.com/2010/07/another-update-and-comments-about-meg.html' title='Another Update . . . BUT BACK

We have been out of commission due to some business and family issues, but we are rededicating ourselves to get the message out. Given that supporters of a part-time legislature missed the mark for ballot qualification, it looks like this is going to be a very long battle.

Accordingly, the best thing you can do for your state and community is support reformcal.com in their long battle against Sacramento!

Another important note: While we have the stickers available at transformcalifornia.com, please know that we are not shipping any until I have the time to fix the online cart and, believe it or not, go through the bureaucratic process to be permitted to sell stickers in California, which is utter madness. Is it any wonder that California was once the 5th largest economy in the world and has dropped to 8th in the last few years?

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://californiaparttimelegislature.blogspot.com/2010/06/time-off-but-back.html' title='TIME OFF . . . Right now, we have the bumper stickers that are available for purchase.

Unfortunately, our cart for purchasing items is not as streamlined as I would like, so we are working with our hosting company to improve this. Additionally, I am getting a quote from a graphic artist to improve the appearance of the site. Included with this retrofit will be links to reformcal.com, the John and Ken Show (KFI 640 AM), Howard Jarvis, etc.

In sum, it is a lot work.

Again, I would encourage you to sign the petitions at reformcal.com and to financially support their work. I can't imagine how hard it is to take on this beast.

I enjoyed John and Ken's comments about Jerry Brown today. Primary focus: getting a Facebook account and getting those t-shirts made. Unfortunately, I'm too busy with work, other projects, and family to get this going as fast as I would like. Also, my sister is very talented and efficient.

Finally, I just saw that reformcal.com linked this site, who are the leaders in this drive to reform California government. So, a big thank you to them.

It may take some time, but I think joining together, we'll be able to shake up Sacramento.

Again, please keep checking into this site, reformcal.com, and transformcalifornia.com.

NEW MARKETING MATERIALS FOR PART-TIME LEGISLATURE

In addition to reformcal.com and listening to John and Ken on KFI 640, I would encourage you to also visit:

transformcalifornia.com.

Why would I encourage you to visit it? Well, I started it. Since I have a full-time job and significant family obligations, it is taking more time than I hoped. However, please keep checking in with this blog and visiting transformcalifornia.com. Thanks.

P.S. I just heard that the California Senate passed a bill for universal healthcare for people in California. I guess they did this because a $20 Billion deficit was too small. I can't wait for free ponies and cotton candy as well and maybe they'll pass a bill mandating that we are to always have sunshine and rainbows everyday in CA? Anyway, I am so pleased with the John and Ken Show, and their really relentless battle against Sacramento excess and their reckless legislation. Here John and Ken are having their millions of listeners call their representatives to oppose this early release.

http://www.kfiam640.com/pages/johnandkenshow/index.html

With all these reckless and irresponsble measures, it is almost like Sacramento is asking for the part-time legislature. He was stabbed to death in a parking lot during the commission of a robbery. I still don't think our family has ever recovered. My cousins lost their father, my grandparents and mom, their only son and brother. So, I have always been interested in criminal justice issues to some degree. You always think there is some general sense among government officials of wanting to protect the citizenry, that the kind civil servants are working day and night to protect the innocent. I think this is probably more the stuff of comic books and civics books than reality. (Too bad there is no Super Man or Spider Man to come in and save the soon-to-be victim just seconds before an attack?)

Today, the California State Senate voted to begin releasing thousands of felons, as a cost-cutting approach for the budget. Of course, the early release is coined in bureaucratic jargon, about releasing non-violent offenders, reducing "light" felonies to misdemeanors, etc., but still the legislature will flood the streets with thousands of convicted criminals and our crime rate will jump again. I have no doubt that someone will be murdered because of this act, not to mention the overall impact on local communities because of the crime.

Really, I can't think of a more solid example of why we need to fundamentally change state government. That the legislature is even contemplating the early release of these criminals shows that it has failed to even carry out its most basic responsibility, the protection and safety of innocent citizens. If the Assembly votes for this, I pray that the people you know are somehow protected. Me? I'll chose to do my best to advocate for a part-time legislature, as I consider these Democrats (and the governor) a threat to public safety. I can only think of one single word to describe our legislature. . . pathetic.

BACK AGAIN

Hey, it has been a long while since I have posted, having been busy with work, an employment issue with family (helping out in their business), and a move. I will be following their progress and helping in my small way.

I think things have gotten so bad that we have reached a critical mass and this may have a chance of going forward. Indeed, our state government and the special interests that feed off of the regular taxpayer need to be controlled and brought under our heal. I know there have been a lot of revolts against Sacramento's excesses--including Prop. 13, term limits, a recall of a sitting governor, and the current drive for redistricting, but--except for Prop. 13--they have turned out to be temporary victories.

What we need is substantive reform of the legislature--something that will go to the heart of the beast and kill it--we need to make our legislature part-time, which should help reduce the radical and fiscally irresponsible elements in the legislature. Moreover, it will force the legislature to focus on truly important matters-like balancing the state budget and saving for future fiscal emergencies--and help keep their focus off of regulating nearly every corner of daily life and taxing everything to death. At the very minimum, we'll pay 1/2 or so for the same government incompetency we are getting now.

Unfortunately, since I first heard of the idea, the major proponent of the concept, the Governor, has completely abandon any conservative fiscal approaches and is no longer threatening the legislature with this possibility. For the most part, now, he's a go-along figure-head that has done nothing to counter the fiscal recklessness of the state legislature. He's turned out to be worse than Davis, in fact. Looking back, what a complete waste of time the recall was and what a total failure the Governor has been. Does the governor believe the stuff he says? How could he have dropped his fiscal conservatism so fast? Does the man have any principles or just political plattitudes about "bringing the two sides together?" (To do what, I must ask, spend more of the taxpayer's money?)

As the weeks unfold, I will chronicle some of the excesses of the government and how this reckless government spending is and will impact us all. From there, I will provide information on how we can begin the long war to make the legislature part-time in California.
